Little Women - The Musical is a large, complicated show when a cast of 23 is involved. Every chorus member needed a day look, an evening look, and winter wear. Oh and did I mention the fantasy sequences? (My wonderful assistant Ivy took those scenes on and those costumes are entirely Ivy's own work.) We built all five of the March women's looks from various floral cottons. Jo's plaid is made up of the colors of her sister's gowns as a way to thread them through her life and story.
It was only my 2nd time designing in the Louis Armstrong space at GVSU and I would never put a pattern that small on that stage again. Ever.
