Proof was one of the first plays I got to design as an undergraduate student and it was a delight to revisit it all these years later. I'm a little thin on photos at the moment but wanted to include what I have.
Evanston where the play is set has some wonderful older homes and as a faculty member the place where Robert & Catherine lived would not have been particularly grand (ask me how I know.) I also suggested putting the set & its audience entirely on our stage so that the space could feel more intimate, as though the audience is sitting in the back yard as well.
For the costumes I have some subtle nods to the early '00s when the show is set, including a Sick Sad World shirt that is a Daria reference (Catherine would have totally watched Daria. She is Daria.)
