Creating a 1940s look for a contemporary actress can be a challenge. The makeup & hair feels unusual, and I am so pleased with how these humans embraced practicing their hair and makeup throughout the rehearsal process. The playwright also gives us a challenge with some of the changes that happen (uniform to pajamas and back again quickly) so finding ways to make those changes feel natural - allowing the actors to come in with their ties undone and then tying them during the following action, etc. - was necessary.
